Create it, Cook it!

Essential Cuisine are delighted to be launching our very own Create it, Cook it competition, to be hosted during the 2 day Wessex Salon Culinaire at Brockenhurst College in May 2017. Open to all student chefs, the new challenge requires 2 portions of a 2 course meal, starter & main course to be “created and cooked” in 45 minutes. Competitors are free to choose any style of cuisine and ingredients, but MUST include one of the Essential Cuisine Glace range (Beef, Chicken, Lamb, Veal, Lobster, Duck, Pork, Wild Mushroom, Vegetable Mirepoix & Game) within the starter and one of the Premier Jus range (Veal, Lamb, Chicken, Red Wine) as a base for their main course sauce. A fundraising dinner aimed at raising awareness and funds took place on 27th February. The event was run primarily by students of the college, and supported alongside chefs from the Craft Guild of Chefs, and our very own Robin and Gary from Essential Cuisine. Tasked with creating a starter for the dinner, Gary and Robin created a dish of Miso Mussels, aromatic salmon gravlax, crab in seaweed, pickled vegetables and an apple puree. Speaking after the dinner, Gary Kilminster from Essential Cuisine said “It was a pleasure to be involved as a sponsor this year, and the students that helped cook the dinner with us were a credit to the college.” For more information on how to get involved, visit the website by clicking here.
