The competition was originally due to take place in March 2020, but as result of the COVID-19 lockdown, as with everything else, the competition was postponed. The brief then is very much still the same brief today, so I have had the dishes in my head, and have been playing around with the finer details for a few weeks now. I am at a stage now where I am happy with my starter, tweaking my dessert as this is my weakest area.

Essential Cuisine make a move to eliminate black plastic

British stocks and sauces manufacturer, Essential Cuisine, have announced their pledge to eliminate black plastic from their range by Spring 2022. With 21 products, including best seller Premier Veal Jus, currently in black plastic, the pledge will see a projected removal of over 10 tonnes of the hard-to-recycle material. It is estimated that the UK sends more than one million tonnes of black plastics to landfill every year – largely because most Material Recycling Facilities (MRF’s) view them as contaminants which are expensive to recycle.*
