Serving good quality food provides a sound foundation for your wider Food for Life work and the creation of a positive food culture in your school. Meeting the food quality criteria allows you to reassure pupils, parents, carers and the wider community that you are serving food that is sustainably sourced and traceable as well as being nutritious and fresh.
Additionally, governors at all maintained schools, new academies and free schools in England are responsible for ensuring that the mandatory School Food Standards are being met. By completing the food quality section as part of your award you will be demonstrating that you are meeting these standards. (Food For Life, 2018)
