
Sourcing locally is still a priority for consumers! A YouGov poll released by trade body Co-operatives UK suggests that 30% of consumers have used local retailers more since the pandemic struck and 80% of them aim to carry on shopping this way in the future.
The research shows reducing food waste has become a priority for consumers after the experience of food shortages. More than a third of people (35%) surveyed say they have been planning meals in order to reduce food waste, and 82% say they will carry on even after lockdown eases*. With all of this in mind we think it is more important than ever to utilise local seasonal ingredients across your menu.
This August, ahead of British Food Fortnight by Love British Food, we should be making the most of the following ingredients; sweetcorn, tomatoes, apricots, beef, beetroot, courgette and mint. We have listed some of our favourite recipes incorporating these fresh ingredients below.
