There are many challenges to face heading towards BBQ season.
As the sun begins to shine and days grow longer, it’s now time to venture into the shed to dig out the ‘al fresco’ dining kit, to sand down and re-paint garden furniture, jet wash the patio and of course dust off the creaky wheels of the portable cooking device ready to enjoy the outdoor life.
The May bank holiday ‘bar-b-que’ is indeed the first sign of the great British summer.
Now restrictions are easing, we can finally look forward to smaller gatherings to show case our latest burger recipe, flat breads, skewers (with a pint in one hand and umbrella in the other)!
Forward planning is essential. So if you’ve bought new and need to assemble, it’s always good to leave a reasonable 4-5hours of assembly time as I realised to my cost a couple of years ago. Happy with my purchase, I set about assembling, what I can only describe as ‘The Death Star’ with the same number of components that Lord Vadar would be proud of. Whilst a traumatic experience was averted my sense of completion was second to none. A true engineering feat, with bits to spare!
Soon enough the heady aroma of the char grill, and lighter fluid filled the air… We finally sat and enjoyed our first ‘burn out’ of spring.
From skewers to burgers, sausages and all things spicy, let’s hope the sun shines on us all over the weekend – if not there’s another bank holiday weekend around the corner.
