The 19th – 27th of June marks National Picnic Week here in the UK, encouraging everyone to grab their blankets and baskets out of the cupboard and get out to the great outdoors for a good old fashioned picnic. The national celebration highlights the pastime with the aim to provide picnic tips, picnic hotspots and everything in between to help the nation roll our their rugs and embrace the British summertime wherever they are.

Last month saw the launch of Essential Cuisine’s ‘turn up the heat’ competition, created to celebrate the return of catering across the foodservice industry. Chefs were asked to submit their hero summer dish to be in the chance of winning a commercial kitchen appliance of their choice up to the value of £1000. The team in blue were completely overwhelmed by the quality of the entries – the passion and creativity really shone through.
