Celebrating the 2026 Craft Guild of Chefs Graduate Awards

22nd September 2026

As a proud sponsor of the Craft Guild of Chefs Graduate Awards, Essential Cuisine was delighted to join the industry in celebrating the achievements of this year's talented graduates at the awards ceremony held at Fortnum & Mason.

The Graduate Awards have long been recognised as one of the most respected development programmes for young chefs in the UK. Since launching in 2002, the awards have helped shape the careers of more than 100 chefs, providing a platform for ambitious culinary professionals to challenge themselves, develop new skills and gain invaluable industry experience.

Following a series of rigorous examinations, mentoring opportunities and practical challenges, this year's achievers demonstrated an exceptional level of culinary and pastry expertise, alongside a genuine commitment to continuous learning and professional development.

Recognising the Next Generation of Culinary Talent

The 2026 Kitchen Graduate Award achievers were:

  • Tommy Randle, Rogan & Co
  • Joe Timmons, Royal Air Force (Highest Achiever)
  • Sergio Purves, House of Commons
  • Lauren Fitzsimmons, The Royal Household
  • Evie Smithson, The Royal Household

The Pastry Graduate Award achievers were:

  • Liam Jackson-Jones, Harrods
  • Nataliia Pantykina, Sodexo | Newcastle United FC
  • Marli Carter, 1 Hotel Mayfair (Highest Achiever)

The wide range of sectors represented this year highlights the depth of talent across the hospitality industry, with graduates coming from restaurants, hotels, contract catering, the military and even the Royal Household.

Learning Beyond the Kitchen

A key part of the Graduate Awards programme is the annual Mentor Experience, where finalists spend time with leading chefs, suppliers and producers, gaining valuable insight into the wider food industry.

Many of this year's achievers highlighted how the experience strengthened their appreciation for British produce, sustainability and the people behind the ingredients they use every day. From visiting farms and producers to learning more about local supply chains, the programme has helped shape their ambitions and broaden their understanding of the industry beyond the kitchen.

Passion, Creativity and Ambition in Pastry

The pastry achievers also impressed throughout the programme, demonstrating creativity, technical skill and a commitment to continuous development.

Highest-achieving pastry graduate Marli Carter spoke about the value of connecting with suppliers and learning more about British produce, while Nataliia Pantykina found inspiration in meeting chefs from a variety of backgrounds and career paths. For Liam Jackson-Jones, exploring local supply chains and British producers reinforced his passion for craftsmanship, sustainability and innovation within hospitality.

Together, the pastry graduates represent the bright future of the industry's next generation of pastry talent.

Supporting Future Industry Leaders

The Graduate Awards are about far more than examinations and assessments. They create opportunities for young chefs to expand their knowledge, build professional networks and gain experiences that will help shape their future careers.

The programme also recognises the importance of mentorship, celebrating those who invest their time and expertise in developing the next generation of culinary talent. This year, Mentor Awards were presented to Brian Hennessy and Wallace Li in recognition of their outstanding support throughout the Graduate Awards journey.

At Essential Cuisine, we are passionate about supporting chefs at every stage of their careers, from aspiring young talent to established industry professionals.
