Formed in August 1997, the purpose of the Combined Services Culinary Arts Team (CSCAT) is to raise the profile of catering throughout the UK Armed Forces; to develop individual team craft skills and aid the recruitment of personnel into the Armed Forces.

At Essential Cuisine, we are all about celebrating chefs. We’ve always thought that there’s something special about chefs - their passion, their creativity, their resilience and natural ability to adapt to every circumstance imaginable. During the course of the pandemic, we have shared some incredible stories from chefs across the industry and today, we’d like to give Tracy Buggins a special mention.
Without doubt lockdown has drawn my attention towards food more than ever. Whether it be deciding what’s for dinner, reminiscing childhood favourites and re-creating the classic 70’s bacon suet roll, shopping locally, conversations about food has never seemed so relevant. I’ve been part of the Essential Cuisine family of chefs for over 13 years and served the longest “apprenticeship” in catering history and am proud to part of the team. Away from my usual day to day chef visits, working from home has taught many of us new skills. From de-boning chicken, broth making, slow cooking, to pie making and of course sourdough!
