Essential Cuisine are proud to be partnering with Love British Food for the second year running, to celebrate British Food and Drink Fortnight (19th September - 4th October) - an initiative that is so close to our hearts as a British manufacturer of high quality stocks and sauces. Love British Food work to encourage retailers and caterers to responsibly source food for our schools, hospitals and food outlets, with the aim to make British food their preferred supplier of choice.

The number of Japanese restaurants in the UK surged by 67% between 2010 and 2015, according to statistics portal Statista. This trend is fuelled by the increase in visitors to Japan, creating demand for Japanese food in the UK. 68,400 British tourists visited Japan in October 2019, with 72.1% of them saying the food was one of the motivations to visit says Statista.

For this week’s culinary journey, we are heading to Mexico! Back in 2015 The Guardian reported a 71% increase of Mexican restaurants across the UK, led by brands such as Wahaca and Barburrito. Over the last five years burrito chains have opened an average 57% more outlets per year compared to a 16% annual rise in posh burger joints over the same period...

This week we are celebrating Afternoon Tea Week! Afternoon Tea may be seen as a British institution that has always been around, but did you know that it was first introduced to Britain in the 1840’s. It evolved as a mini meal to stem the hunger and anticipation of an evening meal at 8pm.
