For the last 9 years, International School Meals Day (ISMD) has been raising awareness about the importance of good nutrition for all children regardless of their circumstances. This year’s theme is “Eat for the health of it” encouraging caterers, school representatives, on site staff and parents to focus on the connection between well-balanced meals and the health, wellbeing and learning of pupils.
With the education sector, amongst others, dealing with the daily challenges of the COVID pandemic, this campaign will also work to raise awareness of the quality of school meal programmes in terms of nutrition, together with hunger and poverty issues.
With hot meals being re-introduced onto school menus across the UK, we believe this will have endless benefits to a child’s health, attainment and development.
