Family-owned independent brewer Frederic Robinson Ltd treated tenants of its North Wales pubs to lunch - then invited them to feature the dishes that they had enjoyed on the menus in their own pubs.
A similar event was staged for Cumbrian tenants at Armathwaite Hall in March and others are planned for Lancashire, Cheshire and The Peak District estates in due course. Robinsons have more than 400 pubs in the North West of England and North Wales. Read more>>

Although the traditional lunch is declining in popularity, there are still some places where workers appreciate the value of a cooked meal at a reasonable price.
One of these is the London headquarters of designer fashion brand Ted Baker, where 85 percent of staff uses the restaurant on a regular basis.
A four-strong team, lead by head chef Jay Wynne, serves up freshly prepared, quality food at the Ugly Brown Building, St Pancras Way, with a little help from Essential Cuisine, maker of stocks, jus, glace and gravy for the professional chef. Read more>>

DREAMS can come true, as Merseyside chef Tom Lee discovered after being crowned North West Young Chef of the Year 2010, sponsored by Essential Cuisine.
The 24-year-old sous chef from the London Carriage Works in Liverpool was last night presented with the top award at a high-profile ceremony at Manchester’s Deansgate Hilton (Wednesday).
It is a particularly poignant win for the Toxteth-born chef, who spent months’ soul searching after narrowly missing out on last year’s title to Chris Rawlinson.
