ESSENTIAL CUISINE BACKS HUNT FOR YOUNG MASTERCHEF
Essential Cuisine has stepped up its commitment to chefs trying to forge a dream career in the competitive world of catering by backing The Master Chefs of Great Britain’s Young Chef of the Year 2010.
The expert stockmaker has signed up as sponsor of the new annual challenge to emphasise the value of competition, constructive feedback and recognition in a young chef’s life.
The competition is open to young chefs who have or are working with, studying under or have the backing of a Master Chef of Great Britain and achieve their Advanced Training Diploma this year.
Eight chefs from the list of applicants will be invited to perform at a cook-off at Westminster Kingsway College, London, on May 19th in front of The Master Chefs of Great Britain.
They must create a signature starter and main course – one of which must be a classic - from a mystery box of ingredients, which will be disclosed the night before the cook-off.
The mystery box will include a product from Essential Cuisine’s kitchen-made tasting range, which includes stocks, jus, demi-glaces and gravies for the professional chef.
Once the dishes have been scrutinised, the winner will be revealed at an awards dinner.
Managing director and Dorchester-trained chef Nigel Crane said it was a privilege to be involved with such an important new competition. “To become a British Young Master Chef really says something about who you are and what sets you apart from other chefs,” he said.
“This is the chance for those with great talent to get the backing of someone who has already achieved the dream and earn a respect unlike no other in the culinary industry.”
Young Chef of the Year complements the Young Pastry Chef Competition run by the Masterchefs of Great Britain.
Gerald Roser, Chairman of the MCGB, commented, “We are delighted to have Essential Cuisine on board, this competition is an important new part of our commitment to ensure that young chefs today have the opportunity to expand their knowledge and learn every aspect of their trade.”
