RAISING THE FRESHEST BATCH OF TALENT
Carving a path to success in the catering world requires a hearty constitution and an unwaning passion for the industry. Promising chefs also need, however, a means of channelling their talent in a refreshingly competitive environment, with access to social and networking events and invaluable resources. Essential Cuisine is therefore pleased to announce its sponsorship of the new Craft Guild of Chefs Culinary Academy
Essential Cuisine’s new partnership with the prestigious Craft Guild of Chefs was unveiled at this year’s Hotelympia, where a talented team of newcomers from the fledgling Culinary Academy walked away with two silver medals - despite never having cooked together.
The chefs, who were all under 23 in January, came an impressive second in the Salon Culinaire La Parade des Chefs buffet and the Open Team Grand Prix, as well as picking up a Merit in the prestigious Master Chefs Grand Prix.
It was the first time the Junior Culinary Academy team had performed together, with members stemming from a host of different companies, from Eton College to the House of Commons.
Essential Cuisine managing director Nigel Crane said the sponsorship deal was part of the company’s commitment to recognising and nurturing emerging talent. “We know there has been a decline in competitive skills in the past few years, and we believe the Culinary Academy will be an instrumental tool in reviving these skills at major and international culinary events.”
Amongst the high profile events lined up for the Culinary Academy is the world-renowned Culinary Olympics from 19-22 October in Erfurt, Germany. Essential Cuisine also sponsored the Culinary Academy Skillery at Hotelympia.
