SUSSEX HEALTHCARE STOCKS UP
A CARE home provider dedicated to good food has invested in Essential Cuisine’s stocks and jus to make life in the kitchen easier and living even more delicious for those in their care.
Sussex Healthcare, which has 20 care homes in the south of England and recently won a Hospitality Assured Gold Award for the second year running, snapped up the professional, kitchen made tasting products after they were taken on by 3663 four months ago.
Delivering the highest quality food possible is key to the care group, which chiefly cares for older people who are mentally frail with dementia or Alzheimer’s, as well as adults with physical or learning difficulties including neurological disabilities.

For example, at Horncastle House nursing home in Plawhatch Lane, Sharpethorne, all food is cooked on the premises using fresh, local ingredients and its 38 residents help plan their own menus through regular meetings.
Head chef Jonathon Cavie said: “I think it’s incredibly important that, even though this is a nursing home, not a Michelin starred restaurant, the highest level of quality is delivered. Everyone’s a customer after all, everyone’s equal, and deserves a decent, varied menu.”
Making thoughtfully prepared food, however, involves time and effort and making stocks and sauces from scratch to guarantee quality can be a bind.
